3 Things You’ll Find at the Denali National Park and Preserve
Denali National Park Wildlife
Denali National Park is home to an amazing variety of wildlife, including grizzly bears, wolves, caribou, moose, lynx, wolverines, marmots and more. There are also over 169 species of birds that call this park home. If you’re lucky enough to spot some of these animals while exploring the park, remember to keep your distance and enjoy them from afar!
Outdoor Activities
The great thing about Denali National Park is that visitors can choose from plenty of activities. Hiking is one of the most popular activities here; there are over 700 miles of trails throughout the park that offer something for everyone. Be warned many trails are unmarked and you should plan your trip carefully before embarking. Other activities include camping (both front-country campsites and backcountry camping), biking, fishing, rafting/kayaking on rivers like Nenana or Kantishna—the possibilities are endless!
Climbing Mt. Mckinley
Of course, no visit to Denali would be complete without at least attempting to reach the summit of Denali peak itself. This is a very strenuous activity that requires advanced physical fitness as well as mountaineering expertise; if you decide to attempt it, make sure you have all the necessary equipment and knowledge! However, if summiting isn’t for you, there are still plenty of opportunities to get close views from various points around the park.
