On this day, anglers from far and wide on The Last Frontier gather at the Homer Spit before taking their boats out on the bay. Weigh-in will take place at Coal Point. If you’re interested in participating, complete the registration form to reserve your space.
It pays to love fishing in Homer — literally! The top 10 winners at the Homer Winter King Salmon Tournament, or those who reel in the biggest fish, earn prize money up to nearly $45,000! Last year’s first-place winner was Shayna Perry, who’s also the first woman winner in the competition’s history. Ms. Perry’s catch, a white King salmon, weighed in at a whopping 26.70 pounds! Additionally, she won the AJ’s Oldtown Steakhouse Prize. Each year, this prize is awarded to the fisherman who reels in the largest white King Salmon.
Not Fishing? No Problem!
This premier fishing tournament isn’t for fishermen only. The public is welcome to join anglers and tournament volunteers at Coal Point on the Homer Spit where the weigh-in will take place.
