Sunset times in Homer vary greatly depending on the time of year. For example, during the summer months, the sun can set as late as 11:30 p.m., while during the winter sunset is around 4:00 p.m. Check out this interactive sun graph for Homer to see the sunset times during your visit! 

1. Homer Spit 

The Homer Spit is the most iconic image of our town. Also known as the Spit, this 4.5-mile long tip of the Kenai Peninsula off Seward Highway is a popular spot for fishing, eco-tours, and trail hiking. It’s also one of our favorite places to watch the sunset in Homer! With the Kachemak Bay surrounding you on three sides, watching the sunset from this peninsula is sure to make you feel like you’re at the end of the world!  

2. Bishop’s Beach 

If you’re traveling to Homer with your sweetheart, watching the sunset from Bishop’s Beach is a must! There’s no more romantic activity than watching the sunset over the Kachemak Bay with the one you love most. If you visit in February, the sunset usually occurs between 5:30 p.m. – 6:45 p.m. During this time of year, we love to bring a picnic dinner to the beach to enjoy while watching the sunset! 

3. Baycrest Overlook 

Homer’s Baycrest Overlook is the area where you crest Homer Hill on the way into town. From here, you can enjoy breathtaking views of Kachemak Bay with a backdrop of glaciers and mountains. Many visitors pull over and stop at the overlook to take in these gorgeous views. It’s also a great place to watch the sunset from a higher elevation!
