11 Day Visit to Homer Alaska
Day 1
- Arrive at 3pm and sit on our back deck and unwind after the long journey & watch the tide roll in or out and the Eagles soar
- Make reservations & enjoy a delicious meal at AJ’s Oldtown Steakhouse just across the street
- Take a short Walk down to Bishop’s Beach for some beachcombing
- Unwind and Relax on our back deck and enjoy the view
Day 2
- Experience the Halibut Capital of the World by booking a Halibut Charter or Halibut/Salmon Combo Fishing Charter with us departing at 7pm and returning at approximately 5pm
- Upon your return save a portion of your catch and dine at Captain Patties where they will cook your catch (reservations recommended)
- Return to the Inn to relax with a beach walk or a view from the deck before retiring for the night.
Day 3
- Enjoy breakfast across the street at Old Town’s Famous Crepery
- Visit the nearby Islands and Ocean Visitor Center, Homer’s amazing Art Galleries, the Pratt Museum, have lunch at Captain Patties on the Spit and enjoy the boardwalks, shops, and Seafarer’s Memorial on the Homer Spit
- Enjoy the Homer’s Farmer’s Market (Wed, Sat),
- Depart the Spit at 5pm for dinner in Halibut Cove at the Saltry, a delightful experience
- Return to the spit at 9:45pm
- Finish off the day with a nightcap at the World Famous Salty Dawg Saloon, then take a taxi back to the Driftwood Inn in Old Town
All of the above plus:
Day 4
- Book a Bear Viewing Tour with us with either a 8 am departure or a 1pm departure. Guest describe this as the highlight of their trip
- Visit the Homer’s Farmer’s Market or tour the Kilcher Living Homestead Museum
- Don’t miss our visiting one of our famous breweries or the Bear Creek Winery
- Dine at Fat Olive Bistro within walking distance
- Finish off the day with a nightcap at AJ’s Oldtown Steakhouse before walking across the street to the Driftwood Inn
Day 5
- Don’t miss Two Sister’s Bakery nearby for World Famous Savories
- Take a water taxi to the south side of the Bay and enjoy our State Park with a hike to Grewingk Glacier Lake
- Upon return take a dock tour and then enjoy one of the Spit’s many eateries
- don’t miss dessert at the Gelato Shop
- Finish off the day with beautiful views from the Driftwood Inn
All of the above plus:
Day 6
- Take a Horseback Riding, Whale Watching, Kayaking, 4 Wheeler or Seldovia Wildlife Tour
- Dinner at Aj’s Steakhouse just across the street (Tuesday – Saturday)
- Finish off the day with a card game back at the Inn
Day 7
- Depart the Driftwood Inn and head for Seward stop at Norman Lowell’s Gallery just 15 minutes out of Homer for a delightful surprise
- Enjoy a 6 hour Kenai Fjords Tour out of Seward or Visit the Sealife Center
- Overnight in Seward at the Naughty Otter or Seward’s Windsong Lodge before returning to Anchorage
All of the above plus:
Day 8
- Before departing Seward swing by Exit Glacier for an awesome photo opportunity
- Stop at the Wildlife Refuge in Portage for the 3pm Bear feeding photo op
- Arrive Anchorage and overnight
Day 9
- Take the 9:15am Train into Denali National Park enjoying the beautiful sights along the way from the high, glass-domed deluxe railcars
- Arrive Denali and spend the night at a spacious Denali-area lodge located just a mile from the entrance to Denali National Park.
Day 10
- Enjoy one of the many excursions into Denali National Park
- Enjoy dinner and a show at the Music of Denali Dinner Theater at McKinley Chalet Resort featuring family-style dining and a spirited original musical about the first men to reach the summit of Denali. and then overnight
Day 11
- Enjoy a morning at leisure. Later, re-board the train and journey between the spectacular Alaska and Talkeetna ranges, which feature several spectacular peaks and glaciers, before heading back to Anchorage at 9:15am.
- Arrive Anchorage and head to the airport or overnight
