Fishing:
Homer offers many charter businesses
for halibut or halibut / salmon combo charters. Homer is rightfully known as
the “Halibut Fishing Capital of the World” and every day you can
see boats unloading the huge but delicate tasting fish. King salmon are also
plentiful whether trolling from a charter boat or casting into the free
“Fishing Hole” near the Homer harbor. For great fishing the Driftwood
Inn recommends our very own

Sightseeing:
Enjoy the famous Homer Spit and small
boat harbor. Over 50 fine art and gift shops, the varied shorebirds and
marine life all make up this coastal community. Buses, taxis, horseback
riding, canoes and bicycles are at your service to show you around. A short
trip to the top of Skyline Ridge above Homer gives a breathtaking view of
Kachemak Bay, the glaciers and snow-capped peaks of the Kenai Mountains and
the line of active volcanoes only 60 miles away. If you feel a bit more
adventurous, try one of the wildlife tour boats, a day of sea kayaking, or a
hike in Kachemak Bay State Park.

Shopping
Artists from Homer and all over
Alaska set up shop on the boardwalks of the Homer Spit, selling unique,
one-of-a-kind pieces. Potters, painters, jewelers, weavers, sculptors and
stained glass workers capture the area's natural beauty in art. Local
bookstores also carry the works of local authors. Visit one of our
favorites, Dana Stabenow, at
